How to perform a Windows (anniversary) update without sufficient storage space

By Jesper — August 12th, 2016

Windows is frequently updating its operating systems with the latest security and compatibility fixes. Usually you won’t even notice that Windows is updating your PC, since Windows waits until you shut down your PC to perform the updates. However, every once in a while Windows releases a bigger update. The so called ‘’Anniversary updates’’ are important and larger updates than usual. We recommend everyone to install these updates when Windows releases them. Both the regular and the Anniversary updates can be found in the Windows Update section in your Windows Configuration center.

Microsoft really wants you to install any updates as quickly as possible and we totally agree with them. That’s why Windows 10 is pre-configured with the option ‘’Download Windows updates automatically’’. It’s a great feature since you won’t have to even think about checking the Windows Update center yourself. However, downloading and installing Windows Updates require some and sometimes even a lot of free storage space. What if you do not have sufficient free storage space available? How to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 then? We have the solution.
